What is Photos.nd.edu?

Supported by Multimedia Services and University Relations, Photos.nd.edu is the official site for storing and accessing photography of the University of Notre Dame. You can search photos, order prints and, if you’re an on-campus user with an account, download images for University use. For historical photos of the University, contact the University Archives or (574) 631-6448.

How do I set up an account?

• If you are outside the University, you may purchase prints with a credit card through the PhotoShelter system. Sorry, not all images are available for print and the general public may not download images.
• If you are with a University department, you may set up a "University buyer" account to download images by contacting Multimedia Services. Once you have contacted us with the specific account email address, you will be able to download high resolution images without the watermark. These photos are for University use only, not for personal use. Thank you.

What photography services are available on campus?

The University photographers are available for photo sessions on and off campus. An hourly or day rate is charged for services.

How do I schedule a photography session?

Please visit multimedia.nd.edu to fill out a request form. You may also contact Multimedia Services at 574-631-2424 (multimedia@nd.edu). We will then contact you within 24 hours to follow up with details in an email.

How much will it cost?

The base rate is $90 per hour, but special pricing may apply for special or extended projects.

How can I use the photos from my photography session?

You may use any photos created from a session with the University photographer as needed for print or web publications, framed art, gifts, etc. You may also use them for other publicity purposes for your college or department.

Will anyone else have access to photos from my photography session?

Since a primary role of the University photographer is to capture the life and history of the University, all photos are the property of the University. Other departments may request to use photos from Photos.nd.edu if appropriate for their needs. However, clients who have hired the University photographer may have first-use rights to their photos. Clients may also have exclusive rights of their photos for a one-year period. After one year, the images become part of the complete collection.
