Every year the Blue Angels select three new pilots for the six-plane demonstration. Applicants must have a minimum 1250 flight hours in tactical jets, but there is no flight test specific to the Blue Angels. Instead, according to Hiltz, emphasis is more on finding the right team chemistry.
